The One About Hemorrhoids

Let me start by saying something important: nobody warns you about adulthood properly. It Started Innocently. Everything was normal. I woke up, drank my tea, minded my business like a responsible citizen. Around midday, I felt pressed and off to the loo I went to do a number two. Five minutes after, my life changed. Chaos. The Moment of Realization Let me tell you something: when hemorrhoids arrive, they do not knock politely . They enter like an uninvited relative during Christmas. Suddenly sitting down is no longer an activity. It becomes a negotiation with destiny . I sat down. My body said: “Excuse me, who authorized this?” I stood up. My body said: “Where do you think you're going? ” At that point I realized this pain is not joking with me. The Walk of Suffering Let me talk about walking. Normally, walking is simple. Left leg and right leg abi? But when hemorrhoids flare up, you start walking like someone that is transporting fragile eggs between your bu...

Dear Women, leave so that you can live.

Dear Women, There is no award in heaven , maybe in hell anyways for the woman who suffered the most to keep her marraige.  Do not stay in an abusive relationship just to keep up apperances. Do not seek counsel from Pastors and Imams as their default solution to your problems is to PRAY. There is a place for prayer, and there is a place for common sense. Do not keep quiet when you are a victim of domestic, mental, emotional and anyhow violence. Do not allow people to guilt trip or shame you in to thinking that divorce is never a way out. Do not give people the power to decide what is BEST for YOU. Do not allow yourself to be bullied into silence. Any man of God, asking you to pray and suck it all in has plans to collect offering on the day of your funeral. No, your friends can't take your place in the lives of your children. Leave, so that you can live. Things end, marriages end, people leave and guess what?? Life goes on!! "The greatest lesson of life is that you are responsi...

LRT.....This One Is For You Guys!!!!!

The year will roll by in a few hours. Hopes, dreams, aspirations, desires and wants. Some gotten, others dashed. Tears, laughter, joy all in one year. This year, I had my fair share of the ups and downs. From the fear of almost losing my only brother to being in a car accident with all the members of my family and no scratch on us but a badly damaged vehicle.  To being suicidal and wanting to end it all.... To rejections here and there on different applications. But through it all one thing has been very constant for me : MY TRIBE.  The people God surrounded me with. The ones that stood like a rock. The ones that did everything to put me back on my feet and make me smile.  To the ones who will send food to me as they know food is my love language.  The ones who constantly support this blog with their views and comments. To the one who paid for the domain name and has been paying subscription fees yearly. Thank you!! Some of you guys are angels in disguise. ...

Stay Cool, Calm and Sweet Smelling.

Lagos is HOT!!!! It is almost December and no sign of harmattan. Not like harmattan is like winter but at least the weather is usually bearable despite the dust and it is our welcome to the Christmas mode feeling.  I was showering for the fourth time today when I had this light bulb moment to write about how to cope with this season without being a community nuisance. Imagine having to deal with all the problems on Nigeria on one hand and not able to swallow spit because your colleague smells like a fish tank. It is not nice. 1. Shower daily, twice if possible and ensure you use your sponge and soap all the time. See, when you come in from the hot sun, do not just get into the shower and rinse your body with water only. Attack those germs, use soap. You will feel better. Trust me.  2. Do not be a stranger to deodorants and antiperspirants in this season please. Put some on in the morning, if possible have a spare in your bag or the safe in your car. Deodorants don't kill, they...

LAGOS.....NIGERIA.....REFLECTIONS.

It is day 4 now and death toll at the collapsed building in Ikoyi is now 36.  Some bodies will never be found under that rubble.  Some may be decomposing before the rescue team gets to them, Some may not have died immediately, but the strain and heat from being under that place for days is enough to kill. Oh, what a terrible way to go.  Day by day, we feel the wrath of what cutting corners, incompetence and corruption can cost a country. Sad that some people have to pay the price of someone else's greed, mistake or nonchalant attitude. For every time you look away in the face of evil.... For every time you know what is right but you do what is wrong.... For every time you take bribe to allow an illegal structure stand..... For every time you take money to allow a quack hospital continue to operate..... For every time you import fake drugs into the country..... For every time you manufacture/ produce drugs that are not up to required health standard.. For every time you en...

14 LESSONS FROM 14 YEARS OF MARRIAGE

No one has the blueprint for marriage.  What works for couple A may be the breaking point for couple B. Marriage is a blessing and I can't say I have a perfect marriage  but I think God helped me in hacking the basics of peaceful living.  We are not doing marriage the perfect way but committed to making it work. Thriving and not just surviving.  Today the 18th October is the 14th year of being a partner to this amazing human. You know that saying that God knew us even before we were formed. He put in my life the perfect support system. My husband, my family and my friends....amazing souls. 1. Allow your partner be who they want to be. Allow your partner have their own hobby. Let your spouse breathe , life should not revolve around breathing same air with you. I am grateful for  the man who will drop me at my friends parties and the days he doesn't he reminds me not to drink too much so I can drive home safely. 2. Never stop being each other's cheerleaders. Every...

Life Happens....Very Fast Too.

I can't believe how fast time flies especially when you are anticipating.... I wake up daily telling myself that I am going to update this blog. Oh well, finally. Here we are. I still do not have anything to write about.  Funny thing is I get a lot of inspiration on what to blog about when I am in the shower, the idea runs smoothly....how to write each line. Once I get out of the shower, the light bulb goes off. I can't seem to put words together. I doubt I will ever make it as a writer.  The last few months showed me that you can be depressed and probably not know it until you pay attention. I have struggled with this for a while as I had: 1. Days when I just burst out crying at my desk for no apparent reason. 2. Sometimes I feel so empty and very hopeless. The future looks bleak. I guess this is what Nigeria does   to your mental health  3. I stopped exercising...I started to take fizzy drinks daily. It was my go to . I ate a lot, i gained weight and I could not be...

I'M IN LOVE.....Round and Round I Go.

Can you fall in love with someone else while married ? Yes,  you can  be  married but  in  love  with other people or find new  love  or a new  person.  That is one of the uncertainties of this life and there is nothing we can do about it. You know that gut wrenching feeling when you realize that you are happily married and have fallen for someone else.  You have probably always prided yourself on the stability of your marriage and are always there to provide a strong shoulder to your friends and now suddenly this person seems to be the center of your life. So is this love? Or infatuation? Or pure lust?  We humans are sometimes as frail and imperfect as the marriage and vows we are bound to. And having feelings for someone else while being married, is that a devilish sin? No, it’s just a human complexity. And unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this. When a marriage functions on routine, boredom starts to ...
