Audacity Of Hope And Other Stories.....
AUDACITY OF HOPE:
The way Nigeria and even the world is set up right now, a lot of things are on hold due to the pandemic. A lot of business and travel projections that are now almost unachievable and some outrightly in the bin. A few weeks back, I called one of my girls and as we got talking I just started to cry for all the the things I thought by now I would have achieved and moved past but no thanks to the world and it's madness. She allowed me vent and then pointed out all the things that I took for granted
But in the midst of all the chaos, there is always a glimmer of hope.
If you close your mind, you won't see it. It is very human to be fixated on the things that are not working and choosing to ignore the tiny little bits that are. Do not let the world rob you of your joy and peace. Look up, have that audacity to HOPE that all will be well.
SEE FINISH:
I have a son who has not been back in school since March 2020 when lockdown started. He is 4 years old and for the first few months into lockdown we were not doing any studying. When Schools resumed online,it was a struggle to get him to concentrate on zoom classes. If he is not busy sleeping he is wondering why the teacher is talking to herself.
But this unemployed youth in my house, who lives rent free and eats free food believes practising and writing his numbers is punishment.
Me: Nimz it is time do write your numbers and letters.
Nimz: Mummy I am too tired to write but not tired to watch TV.
Nimz: Mummy but my pencil is tired (this is after 5 minutes of writing)
Nimz: Mummy can i write one more line I really need to take a nap (goes on right after to jump up and down the house for another hour extremely energetic)
Dearly beloved, if you have space in your homes I have a 4 year old I want to put out on a lease.
HABITS DON'T DIE
So, I promised to eat healthy and do more exercise this year. I resume work at 9am so I can still exercise between 7 and 8am before getting ready for work, which is thankfully about 8 minutes drive. I do this exercises religiously of course and then I reward myself with a chilled bottle of Pepsi!! Considering how I pant heavily when I climb stairs , should I be taking any form of fizzy drinks? I obviously don't learn. I must commend myself for always making effort to stop fizzy drinks at least 5 times in a year. Somebody help me!!!!
COOKING IS STRESS:
You see the people that God created ehn, those ones who enjoy cooking they deserve an automatic spot in heaven. I know how to cook don;t get me wrong and on some dishes I can throw it down, and very well too. But you see, I DO NOT LIKE COOKING. The way I hate going to the market or anywhere for that matter is the way I hate cooking. But I like food....moving on please! Thank God for the grace and ability to outsource stress. To Jesus be all the glory.
OLD AGE:
I am not sure if I am the only 40+ woman who is tired of making her hair. I am generally tired of salon runs. So I have spent the last 2 months going from one hair handle to another on instagram looking for weaves to turn to wig. If I had my way, I would have cut my hair and dye it a bright shade of pink but maybe I will wait till when I start my own company before taking that BOLD step.
SELF CARE:
See this one, do not play with it. I have learnt to laugh, eat puff puff and drink my chilled Pepsi and cry afterwards because problem no dey finish. The only people who are not dealing with one thing or another are the people resting in their graves. And if we are being honest, the ones that are resting peacefully not the ones appearing to people in dreams up and down. Take care of your metal health, go for massages when your bones become stiff. Depending on where you choose to get it done,I can't assure you that the masseuse won't be giving you blows while attempting to loosen stiff muscles. Going for a pedicure is self care. See that few hours that someone pampers your feet..heaven. Blocking people who exudes negative vibes is self care. Do not take your mental health for granted. Clear the cobwebs.
GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS
Have you ever thought of something and boom it happens. Have you been praying for something that looks like it won't be? Na lie. Everything good will come. Though it may tarry, but it shall surely come to pass.
I will write again.
In all keeping a positive mind and attitude helps. Stay strong cos as u said, problem no dey finish
