Four Eyed Gang!!

 A few months ago, reading became kind of strenuous. The head ache accompanying staring at the computer all day was becoming unbearable.

Decided to go for an eye examination because I know I have a 20/20 vision , the only things I find difficult are the tiny prints.

One hour after, madam you have presbyopia. Then he explained how the lens in our eyes becomes weaker with age and then difficulty to see/read follows.

Then, I remember when I was like 8 or 9 years and I badly wanted to wear glasses because it seems it was only for cool kids. I went to a primary school that had a lot of "cool kids" and I think when I was in primary 5 (not sure now) at the beginning of a new session half of the kids came back with glasses.

Growing up, I was that child that was quiet and shy. Who wanted to be accepted by all, so I thought wearing glasses would mean joining the cool kids club. 

Then the mission to convince my dad started. This is one man who is not the easiest to convince about anything, he is the typical African daddy. Somehow we found ourselves at OyinOfe Opticals  in Ibadan, it was one of the best eye clinics then in Ibadan and it was owned by Dr Mrs Oyin Olurin. She attended to us herself. 

Took her time and I remember squinting at some point just so my report will say get a pair of glasses for this young lady!!! Tests completed and she recommended getting one. 

Yay!! My dear father looked her straight in the eye and said Dr , we will get back to you.

On our way home, he started this lecture about how if we start to use glasses by age 8 that by age 15 we may not even see again. You don't mean it father.....for real? There died my cool kids gang subscription notice.

And here I am 34 years later, now needing a pair to see properly. When I sat in that opticians seat, reading the alphabets...the feelings came back. Same words I was pretending I couldn't see then I was seeing very boldly but for a few which was just due to age related eye issues.

Shout out  to all my 4 eyed crew. We get to slay with the latest frames, if I don't misplace this pair in the next 3 weeks.
