And Morning Shall Surely Come....

Grief can be described as depression and sadness taken to an extreme.

People deal with grief differently. Some people drown their sorrows in food and booze. Some people pretend it never happened. Some people wander around in a daze, the reality of things not quite sunk in. Some people will wallow in their grief endlessly, unless an external force helps them get on their feet again. Sometimes, our grief is caused by our own actions and inaction. We say things in the heat of anger, and by the time we’ve cooled off it is far too late.

We can’t turn back time.

And, if we let it, Grief it could destroy us. It hurts to lose a loved one. It hurts even more when the last words we ever said to them were harsh. It hurts to think that they died with their final memory of us tainted.

Grief is like a never ending rainy day. It’s all grey clouds and melancholy feelings. Sometimes rainy days are nice to reflect and think, and to take time to enjoy being by yourself, but eventually we crave the warmth of the sun. Life would suck if it was rainy weather all the time. It’s not even a storm that eventually passes, and the sun come out. No, it’s much worse. It's steady grey rain and grey clouds and feeling down in the dumps every single day.

In the worst of circumstances, we become unable to handle living anymore. Waking up and thinking we have nothing to live for can really suck the life out of a person. It’s like painting a wonderful, vibrant picture full of life and feelings and colour…and then covering it all up with solid grey. And then the grey seeps into the other colours and makes them bleak. All around you, you see bleak clouds.

At that point, what’s the point of living? Life has lost its meaning, and everything goes downhill from there. Suicide becomes a seductress, alluring and irresistible. The minute you step into her apartment, you’re lost forever. It’s the point of no return.

But…

Sometimes the sun does come out. Sometimes the clouds part. Sometimes a rainbow come out and adds colour to a forlorn world. The change could take a long time. One day at a time, the army of sad, crying clouds begin to retreat and give way to their more cheerful, fluffy white clouds.

And then, we find purpose again. The future is still uncertain, but at least it’s not empty.

Life is unpredictable. Love with all your heart and mind and soul.

Choose who and what to love wisely.

Live each day as if it’s your last.

And never, ever let yourself be sucked back into the cesspool of grief.

Because the morning shall surely come.

  6. I am proud of her too, as her aunty *winks* ... it is beautiful to see a young girl think deep and write down how she perceives life. Knowing there is hope and light. Her parents have done well. I duff my hat.
