What If You Wake Up To Know They Are Not Yours.....

So, we woke up today the trending video of the guy who found out his dad isn't his dad after 36 years.

The perception that paternity fraud is high in Nigeria is not unfounded. Reports have been making the rounds that Nigeria has the 2nd highest rate of paternity fraud in the world after Jamaica. Many men have been unknowingly raising children that are not theirs and to curb the trend, there have been calls for introduction of mandatory DNA testing at birth.

See, paternity fraud is not new. I am going to be talking based on my point of view as Nigerian. Growing up, I was told of stories of men who knew they could not father children due to sexual dysfunction from birth. These men are now "packaged' by their family to an unsuspecting lady via arranged marriage. Both parents may be in the know or just the parents of the man. Along the line, girl finds out and she is cajoled and persuaded to go and try outside so she can save her marriage and
save face.

I have also heard of men who are well aware of their sexual issues who will still get married knowing full well they can only shoot blanks. Some of these men plan with their friends to help them impregnate their wives * don't even ask me ow these women agree to this dastard act* . All I can say is that the heart of men and women are desperately wicked.

There is also the option of a couple who may have tried for kids for years, yet no luck. Medically they have both been told that they are fine, but the patience may run thin in the process. Since they have both been certified medically fit, the lady can decide to go and play an away game. After all no one will suspect anything.

Oh what about the ladies that will pin  a pregnancy on any of the available boyfriends, if real owner is playing hard to get. Case in point, lil Miss is dating two guys, sexually active with both. Pregnancy got in the mix, someone has to take responsibility.

How about the good bye sex that aunty got into few weeks before wedding. Good bye now turned to here to stay memory. Husband never to know, Ex may or may not know.

How about the ones who promised marriage, in fact have a baby for me. I am just going to the US for my masters, I will come back. Let the baby be our bond, my promise that i won't leave you. Na lie o, same brother will be sending a message just as the plane is taking off.  " I do not think this will work, we are miles apart and i can only wish you luck in your future endeavour"

There is also baby swapping at hospitals!! This is really crazy. Imagine a situation where a nurse swaps your male kid to sell off to a family in dire need of a heir and gives you the girl child.

There is also this story:
Story of the vanishing twin. A woman and her husband had divorced. She was pregnant and they had gone to court, which asked for the DNA tests result as evidence of paternity of the children because issue of child support was involved.
"The woman got the shock of her life when she learned that none of the children were biologically hers but confirmed the man was their biological father.
"Of course the woman was insistent that she gave birth to the children, but the test showed they were not hers. Her lawyer went to research medical history and discovered that such case had occurred before.
"He then got the court to be present at the delivery of the new baby. So the court was represented, and saw her deliver the baby. The DNA test was carried out, but again and like before the result shower she wasn't the biological mother.
It took some time before medical experts could explain the bizarre development.
"What happened was that the woman was a twin, but had been born as a singleton. She had actually absorbed her to while inside the womb. Her ovaries were actually those of her non-existent twin sister and the DNA from her ovaries were different from her own DNA."
In essence, according to the story, the woman was bearing the children of her sister. She had two sets of DNA and since it's the ovaries that make eggs, the children she was making actually belonged to the twin sister that was never born.
All this is genetics and it is something that we have not fully unravelled. Sometimes everything is not as it seems

  1. The level of Infidelity is prevalent no doubt. However, the blame game is not always a one way track. People sometimes take decisions to either **save** a marriage or a spouse, for selfish purposes or share recklessness at other times, while faulty DNA checks or results have done colossal damages in other cases. At the end, whatever we decide to do, we shall all answer before our maker someday. shalom
